Okaw Valley Orchard

U-Pick Guidelines

We love U-Pick! We are in a transition period at the orchard. Fruit trees that were originally planted in the 1980's are being replaced every year. We are replanting sections of the orchard with U-Pick and future varieties in mind. In 2022 we were able to offer U-Pick every weekend from the end of August until the end of October.

Watch Facebook for updates about public U-Pick availability. Most public U-Pick will be available on weekends, including Labor Day & Columbus Day. We hope to be able to offer some U-Pick on Mondays & Friday afternoons.

We do prioritize school tour U-Pick because many of the students may never even visit an orchard or farm and we want to help the next generation make the important connections about where fruit comes from.

**We always want to welcome our guests in our orchard to enjoy the quiet and country setting, however please check in the store for directions and instructions. We are a working home and farm and there is timber, a pond, a river, and machinery to be aware of.

**Upon entering the orchard, the customer agrees that Okaw Valley Orchard will not be held responsible for any accident or injury occurring on the premises.

Please observe all rules for the benefit of all of our customers and our farm.

Always check in first to purchase your bag, get picking locations and information.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. We are a country property, therefore there are woods with poison ivy and a river and pond on the property. Please stay with your children; we want everyone to have a good experience.

Leashed pets are allowed in the orchard, however please pick up the solid “gifts” they leave behind so others may enjoy their stroll without finding “gifts” with their feet.

All apples must fit inside the bag you purchased.

Wear appropriate clothing for the weather, don't forget hats and sunscreen!

We recommend wearing close-toed shoes good for walking on uneven ground, as bees, hornets and yellow jackets may be present on fallen fruit.

Please pick only in designated areas, which are carefully selected based on the ripening schedule of our fruit.

Do not climb or shake the trees. This will damage fruit and can break tree limbs.

If two or three fruits are clustered together, use two hands and gently pick all the fruit in the cluster.

If you drop any fruit on the ground, we ask that you please make every effort to pick it up and purchase it so that no fruit is wasted. Many labor-intensive hours go into the care of our crops.

Please dispose of trash in proper receptacles.

Please be considerate of all of our customers and observe our non-smoking policy.
